Overview of the Singapore Major

PGL, the Romanian organiser behind the 2024 Copenhagen Major, brings Counter-Strike’s biggest tournament to Singapore. The event opens on 24 November 2026 and crowns a champion on 13 December 2026. The final four days are played at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which seats more than 12,000 fans.

Thirty-two teams qualified through regional rankings: 18 from Europe, 9 from the Americas and 5 from Asia-Pacific. They enter at different stages depending on their seeding, so the strongest teams join only in the second week. The full field is on the Singapore Major teams list.

Major format: three Swiss stages and playoffs

Every stage after the first adds stronger seeds. A team from Stage 1 needs to survive three Swiss brackets before the playoffs.

  1. Stage 1

    –

    16 teams in a Swiss bracket. Opening matches are best-of-one; advancement and elimination matches are best-of-three. The top 8 move on.

  2. Stage 2

    –

    The 8 survivors meet 8 new seeds, including NAVI, G2, Astralis and The MongolZ. Same Swiss rules, top 8 advance.

  3. Stage 3

    –

    The 8 highest seeds — Vitality, Falcons, Spirit, MOUZ, FURIA and more — join in. Every match is best-of-three; the top 8 reach the playoffs.

  4. Playoffs

    –

    Single elimination at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Best-of-three until the best-of-five Grand Final on 13 December.

How the Swiss system works

In each Swiss stage, 16 teams play opponents with the same win–loss record. Three wins send a team through; three losses knock it out. A stage lasts five rounds, and the 2–2 decider matches are often the tensest series of the event. From Round 2, pairings follow the Buchholz system and the initial seeds.

In Stages 1 and 2, only advancement and elimination matches are best-of-three; the rest are best-of-one. Stage 3 is best-of-three throughout.

Playoffs

The eight teams that survive Stage 3 play a single-elimination bracket from 10 to 13 December. Quarter-finals and semi-finals are best-of-three; the Grand Final is best-of-five.

Schedule by stage

Daily match times are published by PGL before each round. Singapore time is UTC+8; match pages show the start in the reader’s own time zone.

How the 32 teams qualified

Every invitation came from the Valve Regional Standings of 2 November 2026. Each region received a fixed number of places, split across the three stages:

Major invitations by region
RegionTeamsStage 3Stage 2Stage 1
Europe18666
Americas9216
Asia-Pacific5—14
  • Europe has one more place than at Cologne, after the region’s results there;
  • The Americas have one place fewer, but two direct Stage 3 invitations instead of one; North and South American teams share one standings list;
  • Asia-Pacific keeps five places, but its top team now starts in Stage 2 instead of Stage 3.

The last place went to 100 Thieves, who won FiRe Last Chance. Every team and its starting stage is on the Singapore Major teams list.

Host city and venue

Singapore is the first city in Southeast Asia to host a Counter-Strike Major. The city-state has staged big esports events before, including Dota 2’s The International in 2022.

The playoffs move to the Singapore Indoor Stadium from 10 to 13 December. Opened in 1989 and designed by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, the 12,000-seat arena sits beside the Kallang River. Arena commentary is in English.

Prize money

The $1,250,000 prize pool is the standard for a Valve-sponsored Major. Every team that qualifies earns prize money; the champion takes the largest share.
